Confronting workplace violence in emergency care: insights from global research

This article summarizes a global collection of studies on violent crime and workplace violence in prehospital and emergency care. The eight featured papers highlight the prevalence, contributing factors, and consequences of violence against healthcare providers, and present strategies—including quality indicators, training, organizational support, and system-level interventions—to improve safety and patient care. The findings underscore the need for continued research, tailored preventive measures, and structured frameworks to address violence in emergency settings.
