Abstract
The Azerbaijan-Armenia war on Nagorno-Karabakh was a serious challenge for the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic in Iran. Iran, the world's only Shiite regime, can hardly turn its back on a Shiite-majority state at war with a Christian enemy.
