On February 19, I had the opportunity to brief Members of the Swedish Parliament on the situation in Iran, at the invitation of Nima Gholam Ali Pour, Member of Parliament for the Sweden Democrats.
During the seminar, I outlined the structure of the Islamic Republic, with particular focus on the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, discussed the regime’s activities in Sweden, and highlighted how criminal networks are used to target Iranians in exile as well as Jewish and Israeli interests. I also presented developments related to the ongoing uprising in Iran and spoke about the role of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi.
Following the session, Mr. Gholam Ali Pour and I met with Mr. Aron Emilsson, Chair of the Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, for further discussions on Iran and on the security threats posed by the Islamic regime to Sweden.
I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this important dialogue. Supporting the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom while safeguarding Sweden’s national security must go hand in hand.
