On 4 November 2026, I participated as an invited panelist in the JiA debate “How Strong Is International Law When the World Changes?”, organised by the Law Students’ Association in Lund as part of the JiA Days. The debate took place in the Palaestra lecture hall at Lund University.

The discussion addressed the role of international law in an increasingly uncertain world, particularly the relationship between state sovereignty, international security and the protection of human rights. One central question was under what circumstances the international community can or should intervene when a state represses its own population.

Other panelists were Olof Beckman, an international law adviser at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters; Isak Malm, a lecturer in international law at the Swedish Defence University; and Rolf Ring, a senior adviser and former deputy director of the Raoul Wallenberg Institute. The discussion was moderated by Karol Nowak, Senior Lecturer in Human Rights and International Law at Lund University.
