On 15 September 2022, I was an invited speaker at SWEETs 2022 (Swedish Emergency Medicine Talks), the national emergency medicine meeting in Stockholm organised by the Swedish Society for Emergency Medicine. My talk, Deadly Violence, Shootings and the Future, examined the development of firearm violence and explosions in Sweden, particularly violence linked to criminal networks.
I discussed what these developments mean for emergency medicine in Sweden and the need to improve preparedness for patients with gunshot injuries. Topics included medical trauma drills, security procedures in emergency departments and preparations for mass shootings and other serious incidents of violence.

Following the presentation, I was interviewed by Läkartidningen about how emergency departments across Sweden could prepare for shootings and deadly violence.
