Danir AB and Glasklart organized a support concert today for peace between Israel and Palestine. Alongside music and, not least, dance, there were a number of discussions and speeches moderated by Lars Adaktusson.
The event began with the chair of Malmö's Jewish congregation, Fred Kahn, and Social Democrat Jamal El-Haj, also from Malmö, giving remarks and having an interesting conversation focused on respect and tolerance. Kahn also spoke about the situation of Jews in Malmö, while El-Haj spoke about the situation of Palestinians in their homeland.
Israel's ambassador to Sweden, Benny Dagan, then took the stage. He began with a speech and subsequently answered questions from Jamal El-Haj about why Israel does not accept various resolutions adopted by the United Nations.
After that, Alf Svensson, Member of the European Parliament and Christian Democrat, and Göran Persson, former Prime Minister and Social Democrat, each delivered a speech and answered questions from Adaktusson. Alf was, as always, charismatic and wise. Göran Persson was equally impressive, with his well-known rhetoric.
All in all, it was tremendously enjoyable and rewarding. Let us hope for peace and reconciliation!
