On 6 March 2024, I spoke at Svenska Vård's annual conference in Gothenburg. My presentation, The Escalation of Violence: How Do We Respond to Young People with a Capacity for Violence?, examined the development of serious violence and gang crime in Sweden and the challenges arising as ever younger individuals become involved in criminal environments.
I discussed how this development affects services working with vulnerable young people, including residential care homes (HVB), special youth homes and schools, as well as the challenges faced by the police and other public institutions.
The conference was organised by Svenska Vård on 6–7 March 2024 and brought together representatives from healthcare, care services and social work.
